It marked a new chapter for Dubai’s Hindu community. Before this, the community primarily worshipped at the older temple complex in Bur Dubai. That complex housed shrines to Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, and a Gurudwara. The new Hindu Temple in Jebel Ali provides a much larger, more elaborate space for worship and community gatherings. This stunning temple is a fusion of Indian and Arabic architectural styles. Its construction involved a staggering 900 tonnes of steel, 6,000 cubic meters of concrete, and 1,500 square meters of marble. The temple is adorned with nine brass spires, known as kalashas, which grace the outer domes. Inside, you’ll find 16 deities, including Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Mahalakshmi. The main prayer hall boasts the unique 3D-printed pink lotus sculpture, a true marvel of modern technology blended with traditional artistry. Adding to the temple’s beauty are intricate walnut doors with delicate craftwork, hand-carved elephants adorning marble pillars, and the gentle ringing of bells. The Hindu Temple in Jebel Ali is not just about breathtaking aesthetics. It also offers modern amenities such as LCD screens in community and knowledge areas. The deities’ sculptures are crafted from a special black stone, adding to their reverence. There’s even a designated section for a Tulsi plant, used in traditional Hindu ceremonies.
